    Windows 8 Genuine Center revealed

A new feature and screenshot has been linked today, showing off Windows 8′s Genuine Center. Although there isn’t much to see, it does show that Microsoft is working hard to fight piracy with other ways, in addition to upgrading its OEM Activation system.

The screenshot is basically a specific “center” informing the user of the operating system’s activation status. There are a lot more options here other than the non-stop notices we’ve seen in Windows 7. Interestingly, you can even purchase a Windows 8 license for another computer.

It’s hard to see this actually becoming a deterrent to pirates. But keep in mind, there is a whole group of non tech-savvy people out there who are actually willing to pay for an activated version of Windows, and may have been tricked into purchasing counterfeit items.

It will be interesting to see what else Microsoft has up its sleeves in the war of piracy.
