Windows 8 step-by-step installation screenshots leak

    Posted: 29 Mar 2011 05:05 PM PDT

Following the announcement of Windows 8 being released on Microsoft Connect, our Russian partners over at WinReview have managed to get their hands on the build and have posted step-by-step installation screenshots.

As you can see, the Metro UI look is being displayed even in the install-process. The OS was installed in under 20 minutes. It should be noted that it was impossible to install in VMWare.

Windows 8 Build 7971 was distributed to OEMs via Connect earlier today. Stay tuned for any info regarding possible leaks.

It appears that Avast CEO was right about Microsoft: Windows 8 M3 Build 7971 is being distributed via Connect today. So much for no leaks until Windows 8 Beta. Given the high likelihood that the rumored security features are no longer put into place, it will only be a matter of time before this build is leaked to the public.

The full build string is 7971.0.110324-1900, and it is being distributed to external partners, according to AskVG. This would also include OEMs, and is being distributed via the Windows 8 and Server vNext Pre-Release Program.

The download link via Connect is being leaked, but please note that it is only linked to a specific user account, and cannot be used by others. The invitation code can only be used once.

More screenshots of Windows 8 step-by-step installation process after the break.

And also, you can discuss about rumors of the leak with our members over at the Windows 8 Center forums.
