Microsoft begins shipping Windows 8 Build 7971 via Connect Posted: 29 Mar 2011 02:53 PM PDT It appears that Avast CEO was right about Microsoft: Windows 8 M3 Build 7971 is being distributed via Connect today. So much for no leaks until Windows 8 Beta. Given the high likelihood that the rumored security features are no longer put into place, it will only be a matter of time before this build is leaked to the public. The full build string is 7971.0.110324-1900, and it is being distributed to external partners, according to AskVG. This would also include OEMs, and is being distributed via the Windows 8 and Server vNext Pre-Release Program. The download link via Connect is being leaked, but please note that it is only linked to a specific user account, and cannot be used by others. The invitation code can only be used once.
